Local businesses enjoying benefits of funding boost

5 December 2016, The Gisborne Herald

NZTE’s Capability Development Voucher Scheme can pay for up to 50 percent of business training and development costs.

Local businesses are making the most of an NZTE programme run by the Regional Business Partners at Activate Tairawhiti, benefiting from $60,000 in funding in just four months.

NZTE’s Capability Development Voucher Scheme can pay for up to 50 percent of business training and development costs. Activate Tairawhiti regional growth adviser Peter Jarrett said with as much as $5000 co-funding available, everyone from start-ups to SMEs to large business could take advantage of the opportunity to improve the capability of their workforce in key areas.

“In the last four months alone, $60,000 in funding has been allocated to local businesses."

Mr Jarrett said another focus had been to further increase the number of local approved providers for the scheme.

“At the same time, Activate has been working to add more Tairawhiti-based accredited service providers. Building on the national network of providers accessible through NZTE, we’ve recently signed up six new local providers. A total of 10 are now available to offer their expertise across business planning and systems, marketing, finance, resource management, health and safety, and more.”

Business owners wanting to find out more about accessing the Capability Voucher Scheme can register at www.regionalbusinesspartners.co.nz.
